OUR HERO FOR TODAY…..THERE ARE STILL SOME VERTEBRATES LIVING IN CANADA!!
One of the aggravating things about government is the bureaucratic maze we all have to navigate to get the mundane things of life done. A new driver’s license, a passport, a business license, etc.
PIERRE LEMIEUX is a Canadian with a gun permit, and he has found that his government takes the aggravation to a whole new level. In order to renew his permit back in 2007, they required him to fill out a more or less lengthy questionnaire…..like a good citizen, he took a deep breath and began checking little boxes, and filling in blanks, until…......well, until they started asking him questions about his love life! Was he divorced? Had he broken up with his girlfriend?

PLAXICO BURRESS RECENTLY SHOT HIMSELF WITH AN UNREGISTERED GUN…...UPDATED
....and since making a Public Service Announcement on the importance of gun safety is commonly part of the restitution ordered by the court, someone has imagined what Plaxico’s would be like.
(For those not in the know….PLAXICO BURRESS plays football for the New York Giants, and was RECENTLY IN THE NEWS when he carried an unregistered gun into a NY nightclub and accidentally shot himself in the leg.)

WHERE DO YOU STAND ON THE SECOND AMENDMENT…....?
You remember, that’s the one that the Supreme Court (5-4) said guarantees individual Americans the right to a firearm for their self-defense, among other purposes…...

Full disclosure: I own an ancient, single-shot .410 shotgun, and have never owned a handgun, although I’ve shot a number and am thinking about a .45 semi-automatic pistol.
.
But, I’ve always been attracted to the decals that say “These premises protected by Smith and Wesson”, as well as by the column called ARMED CITIZEN that the NATIONAL RIFLE ASSOCIATION (of which I’m a member) publishes every month. The column chronicles defensive gun use in the United States - stories of a very few of the 1,000,000 or more regular citizens, attacked in their homes or businesses, who defend themselves *each year* with a firearm.

WHAT CAN WE EXPECT FROM AN OBAMA PRESIDENCY ON THE SECOND AMENDMENT?
We could, of course, listen to the campaign rhetoric, and be (at least somewhat) hopeful.

As a presidential candidate, Barack Obama must demonstrate executive experience, but he remains strangely silent about his eight years (1994-2002) as a director of the Joyce Foundation, a billion dollar tax-exempt organization. He has one obvious reason: during his time as director, Joyce Foundation spent millions creating and supporting anti-gun organizations.
There is another, less known, reason.
