OFTEN, IT’S TRUTH-TELLING THAT MAKES A HERO…..

By this standard, PHILIPPE KARSENTY is truly a hero.

Mr. Karsenty is the founder and president of a media-ratings agency that monitors French media for bias and inaccuracy.  He became interested in the MOHAMMED AL-DURA controversy, in which a young Palestinian was alleged to have been killed by Israeli soldiers, while being filmed for French TV.  After a careful investigation, he was convinced that the entire event had been staged in order to discredit the Israelis defending themselves against the intifada.

IT’S THE CHICAGO WAY…...

Ald. Richard Mell forgot to re-register his guns. No problem—he’ll just write a new law.

The law is one that the Alderman himself helped to write and pass….and it requires ANNUAL re-registration of firearms.

Ridiculous, no?  But, it’s the law.  Alderman Mell says that he’s writing this new law, allowing a one-month “grace period”, NOT just for himself.  There are other Chicago citizens who also forgot, and they will benefit, as well.

I guess that means that he’s sponsored one of these each year since the law was passed, and he’ll keep on doing it in the future…..right, I’m sure THAT is happening.

How about just repealing the stupid law, Mr. Mell!

The governor of Alaska is living her principles, when she didn’t have to, and might have avoided it without anyone ever knowing…..today, that makes her a hero.

BITTER CITIZENS, CLINGING TO THEIR GUNS AND RELIGION….....

The title, of course, is based on a SPEECH BY BARACK OBAMA, in which he was describing voters in Pennsylvania.  Here’s the relevant excerpt:

“You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing’s replaced them…And they fell through the Clinton administration, and the Bush administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not.

“And it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”

and here’s what I think is a more typical example of every-day, non-elite American citizens clinging to their guns.

IF YOU APPRECIATE YOUR FREEDOM, THANK A SOLDIER…..

Always nicest to actually SAY the words—“Thank you for your service.”—but plainly, that’s not always possible.  Now, you can do it with a gesture…...join THE GRATITUDE CAMPAIGN
